About "los Judd"

Just a little about our family!!

Deep thinking in Segovia
 Nick:

Nick is currently working as an English teacher in Spain.  Through the Auxiliar program, he can work up to 3 or 4 years in different high schools/ elementary schools.  It's been a stressful, but enjoyable experience for him so far.  While the screaming children give him head aches, he still enjoys working with them, and really likes his co-workers.

Overlooking the main plaza in
Santiago de Compostela
He has an undergraduate degree in Spanish and minor in business.  He's also completed his Masters in Spanish linguistics, and will study a PhD upon returning to the US.

Nick loves to travel.  He's always looking for new exciting places to go, and has the amazing ability of finding great deals on hotels.  =)

Hanging out by the torres
in Valencia
He also loves to golf.  While here in Spain, he hasn't been able to golf, but  on trips back home, he picks it up with no problem!

Favorite sports team: San Antonio Spurs

Favorite musician: Bob Dylan

Favorite Spanish expression:  "¿A dónde va Vincente?  A donde va la gente." (Monkey see, monkey do.)

Favorite Spanish city (to date):  Segovia

Favorite thing about living in Spain: Having so many wonderful and historic places to visit right around the corner.

Least favorite thing about living in Spain:  The lack of dryers

Ana:

At the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona
Ana is doing her PhD through the Universidad de Salamanca.  She is also teaching a few English classes on the side to earn extra money.  She spends her days taking care of the puppy, researching, and enjoying her new experience as a "piso wife".

She has her undergraduate degree in Spanish Education, and a Masters in Spanish literature and culture.  In Salamanca she completed a Masters in English literature, and is working on a PhD in a combination of Spanish history and English literature.

Walking around the Wall in Ávila
Ana loves to travel, and never gets tired of seeing new things.  Anything from a tiny "pueblo" to a huge city, everything is new and exciting.  Having Nick to see everything with make it that much better.

Ana loves to read.  When she isn't reading for research, she's reading other books, currently Game of Thrones.

Previously she ice skated.  But being in Spain makes keeping up with it virtually impossible.  She does hope to start running soon, and hopes that one day Nick will run a 1/2 marathon with her.  =)

Favorite sports team:  Green Bay Packers

In La Mezquite in Córdoba
Favorite authors:  (Other than Cervantes, which is a little cliché) Galdós, George R.R. Martin, Dan Brown, Lorca

Favorite Spanish expression:  "Entre dicho y hecho hay mucho trecho."  (Easier said than done.)

Favorite Spanish city (to date):  Córdoba

Favorite thing about living in Spain:  The people, the culture, the food... EVERYTHING.

Least favorite thing about living in Spain:  Lack of dryers.  (It's a very common frustration)

Joey:

Joey is a year-old Yorkshire puppy.  He loves to play and snuggle.  He has a TON of energy, and keeps Ana and Nick very busy running around after him.

Joey has already had a very eventful life.  He was born in Salamanca, from there traveled to the US, spending two weeks in Florida, and getting very spoiled by grandma and grandpa.  After this, the journey continued to Ferrol, where he was very happy, except when he has to go for walks in the rain.  After moving to Zamora this last year, he enjoys walking around the city near the river, and playing on the HUGE terrace in his piso.
